On-Site SEO 101

On-Site SEO refers to the remedial work required ON the website itself. This requires an assessment of the website to determine architectural areas in need of improvement, and relevance of targeted keywords to products & services. We look at issues such as;

  • Menu structure
  • Internal links , anchor text, hyperlinks
  • Sitemaps – user-accessible HTML and Google XML sitemaps
  • Robots.txt
  • 404 Page Not Found Error handling
  • File & Image Naming conventions, use of Image Alt text
  • Title, Description & Keyword meta-tags
  • Heading formats
  • 1st Paragraph content
  • Use of JavaScript / Flash/ Frames

We carry out some keyword research to determine what keyword search phrases are actually used by potential clients. This research is also applied to efforts undertaken for you in Off-Site SEO (Link Building).

Having assessed what needs improvement, and making any necessary compromises required due inherent limitations in the website architecture, we write a set of Page Optimisation Edits that are then implemented by the client, or by us if required. For smaller sites, we may only need to optimise 5 main pages, for medium-sized sites, perhaps 10 pages.
